Why I put my 10-year-Old through Hell on his 10th Birthday

🎂 1000 throws with a 10 lb Med Ball, 1000 Med Ball Catches, 10 Hill Sprints, 10 Depth Jumps, 10 Single Leg Depth Jumps. This how we Celebrate 10th Birthday roun here. That smile on da birthday 🎂 boy’s face, that’s REAL confidence. EARNED.🦁 13th birthday when we Kill the Lion.I get to kill mine first though 🦁🎂🦁

Reason #1

Real Confidence is Built by Doing Hard Things.

Growth comes through friction, growth comes through resistance, growth comes from physically and mentally pushing through pain.

Reason #2

Did Maceo want to do this?

No. It’s what you do, not how you feel, that gets things done. We can do our way into feeling the way we need to. It’s hard to feel our way into achieving anything.

Reason #3

Demonstrate a commitment to your life.

Life is short. It is important that we teach our young Playmakers to commit to making the most out of the time that they have.

Reason #4

You want to know a great way to separate yourself?

Do what others won’t do today so you can do what others can’t do tomorrow. How are other 10 year old’s’ spending their time on their 10th birthday?

Reason #5

Life is not easy and life will mess you up if you are not prepared for it.

Hard Training gets you prepared and it also creates the mental and physical adaptation in the mind that makes the rest of life’s daily challenges easier.

Reason #6

Striving to be Great is never easy.

But when people tell me that what I’m suggesting they have their young playmakers do won’t be easy, I say, ‘You’re right.’ going after Greatness takes sweat. Not everyone will do it.

Reason #7

Break Through False Limits.

It’s almost as if Great Players belong to a special club. In this club, the members know that the average person limits himself. They know that the Great Player is Great in large part because he doesn’t limit himself/herself. This only happens by doing Extraordinary Hard Training Day after Day.

Reason #8

Use this experience to create a new Baseline on what Maceo can accomplish on any given day.

Make this his new baseline. Make this his new average. Make this his new daily routine. Now that Maceo has seen what he can accomplish in any given moment I want to push him to get there all the time.

Reason #9

Growth comes at the point of resistance.

Our young Playmakers learn by pushing themselves and finding what really lies on the outer reaches of their abilities.

Reason #10

You say you want your young Playmaker to be the Best that they can be?

Let’s see it in action. There is a clear difference between what it takes to be Good, what it takes to be Great, what it takes to be among the Best, and what it takes to be the very Best. Becoming something is EARNED.
